San Diego: Gaslamp

Our first stop Saturday night was Rock Bottom Brewery. We discovered it on our last trip. I really like their light beer. We hung around and had a few.

We were ready for new sights so we left and went in search of another bar. We stopped in The Shout House, it's a dueling piano bar. Turns out there was $10pp cover. We walked right back out. We decided just to go on to La Puerta, a place I found on Yelp for happy hour and dinner. After 10pm drinks were 1/2 off. We ordered a couple Dos Equis, Carne Asada Fries, and Cochinita Pibil Tacos. We noshed on salsa to start.

It was really good. I could really go for those carne asada fries right now - yum! Usually tomatillo salsa is so mild, we don't enjoy it, but this was spicy and delicious. We were temped to drink it. Instead we devoured it with chips.

After our meal and drinks we were off to the next bar. Only we never found one. We wanted some place laid back and no cover. Tough find on a Saturday night. We ended up at Los Panchos. We sat out on the patio to people watch and we enjoyed a couple rounds of Cadillac Margaritas. There is a club directly across the street. It provided most of our entertainment, watching the lines and those arriving. We saw a lincoln towncar with lambo doors, I tried to snap a pic but there were too many people in my way... gawkers.

We were reminded of that whole last call nonsense. We were kindly booted out of Los Panchos - Closing time. We had a long walk back to the hotel. A mile walk up hills tipsy provided many laughs for my dear husband. Back at the hotel we heated up a cinnamon roll for a late night snack. We promptly crashed thereafter.
