I love this idea! Think about how many things one forgets as the days blur into one another...having a snapshot is sure to help crispen the memory.

Hi Kellee. I'll be looking for an apartment for a 3 or 6 month lease. My workplace allows working remotely, and after many painful years of waiting, it's finally going to happen.
If you have any recommendations, I'd gladly like to look into them.
To date, I plan to see The Vistas (toured them 1yr ago, so this is a repeat to refresh the memory) and Stone Ridge....but of course, any other recommendations would be appreciated.
I'm looking for budget renting for this trial period, and if it goes as planned (and I like it as much as I think I will), I'll be looking for long term as soon as the lease expires. More than you wanted to know of course....can you tell I'm excited? I just booked 2 weeks of vacation to get out there and get moved in - April 2-13.
Oh, and Laughlin or Bullhead - either is fine...just a hop, skip and jump across the river.
We never looked in Bullhead because of taxes. Apts in Laughlin were limited to The Vistas and Crown Point. The market was booming back then and availability was hard to come by.
That's why we decided to buy. Yeah, stupid, but anyway, we lived in Colorado Bay Club. It's a great community, maybe see if any rentals are available. Majority of people only lived there part-time, it was a popular snowbird pick. Las Palmas was nice, maybe check there too. Stay away from Portofino.
They built new apartments since we lived there along Bruce Woodburym, not sure what the deal is with those but they look nice.
I hear there is talk of adding a second bridge to Bullhead from Laughlin not far from Harrah's. That would be a huge time saver for shopping and such if living in Laughlin.
Just got back home. I think I'm locked and loaded to rent from The Vistas for a 6 month lease (trial period). If I like it during the hottest 6 months of the year, then it's pretty well decided I'll be staying as the winter weather is wonderful. It was in the 60's and I was at the pool every day...all to myself no less. lol
I'll read up on the others you mentioned as well...I do want neighbors as I'll be solo, so it would be nice to meet some folks if possible.
Great, congrats! If you make it through summer you will love the rest of the year. Prepare to have your internal temperature gauge seriously adjusted. After one summer in Laughlin, my blood thinned terribly. 105 was no longer hot and 65 was suddenly cold.
When do you move in?
Thanks. I'm excited, yet apprehensive at the same time. The only apprehension though is leaving family behind. I'm feeling guilty ... a friend had said, in a nutshell - 'the apartment will always be there, but your family won't.' I mean, how do you respond to that??
I will be moving in April 1 (leaving the tundra the last weekend of March for the drive out).
I'm excited, but again, feeling guilty...hoping I don't regret at least giving it a try. I honestly think I'd regret *not* trying...if that makes any sense. How did you cope with leaving family back in Chicago? Was it easy for you?
I fully understand the guilt, but you have to live life for yourself - no one else.
I highly doubt you will regret trying, but had you never set out on this adventure you'd always wonder what-if? When we decided it was Vegas or Bust, I felt I'd rather try and fail, then never try at all.
Leaving family was incredibly difficult. I've always been extremely close to my brother and sister. I took on a motherly role at a very young age, but I came to the realization that I had to start my own life. The one I wanted wasn't in Chicago. At 17 Vegas felt like home, I was 23 and it was time to see if it truly was, and here I am nearly 9 years later... It is home.
Missing them never gets easier, but life is about compromise. Thankfully, flights are regular and sales run a few times a year.
Thanks Kellee. I've had a back and forth internal struggle about staying vs. leaving - the whole "I have to live my life".
I'm with you on the 'what if's'. It's time to try it, but it won't be easy leaving town...but I've got to at least give it a try.
