Restaurant Week: Yellowtail

Yellowtail at Bellagio was our third choice for Restaurant Week. I tried to make a reservation for 7:00pm via Bellagio’s website, but it was not available. I then called the reservation phone number and I was able to secure a 7:00 reservation without issue. It pays to call direct.

We were seated promptly upon arrival; we were in the main dining room which offers views of the Bellagio Fountains. Yellowtail also has a balcony overlooking the lake, had I realized that I would’ve tried to reserve a table there.

Our server quickly brought us iced teas and went over what dishes were available for restaurant week. They did not have menus printed, odd, since this was the first time we ran into that.

Two cups of edamame got us started. You can’t go wrong there. Next, we shared Kobe beef tacos and Jidori chicken lettuce wraps. The meat was tender and flavorful the taco held its crunch – very tasty. The lettuce wraps were topped with crispy tortillas, those I’ve had before were served simply with the chicken mixture. I really appreciated the crunch; it gave the wraps a far more interesting texture to others I’ve tried previously.

Our entrees were Scottish salmon and braised Kobe beef ribs. Again, we shared, both dishes were excellent. The salmon was so tender it flaked with ease, yet the outside was seared beautifully crisp, it was also infused with a wonderfully clean lemon taste. The beef ribs were tender, and the teriyaki sauce was flavorful without being salty. A medley of vegetables accompanied each entrée: spinach, asparagus, pearl onions and carrots. They were also cooked to perfection.

Everything had been wonderful thus far, including the service, we eagerly awaited dessert. We sampled a variety of mochi: chocolate, vanilla, and green tea. They were presented in a lovely pattern where each mochi made up petals of the flower. Not only was the presentation nice, but they were scrumptious. We also had chocolate lava cake with green tea ice cream and banana foam. The cake was delightfully sweet, and the ice cream was clean and refreshing it was a nice balance.

We were thoroughly satisfied. We had a pleasant experience at Yellowtail, we plan to return at some point to try specialty rolls and sushi.
