Meraki Greek Grill

My brother and drove over to Presto Cafe for lunch one day and much to our surprise, we found it shuttered. It wasn't a total loss, though, just a couple suites down (at Rainbow/Trop) we noticed a new eatery, Meraki Greek Grill. We love gyros so it was an easy sell. The restaurant is modern, bright and clean. Typical of a fast-casual experience; you order at the counter, you're given a number and your food will be brought to your seat. Every visit, thus far, has been hectic when ordering but don't let that deter you. The rest is pretty darn flawless. Not only is the restaurant spotless, even when at capacity, but the quality of the food has been top notch and very fresh.

I'm loyal to the beef/lamb gyro, the classico combo ($10.90) suits me well. I get the tzatziki on the side because I'm extremely picky when it comes to it. This one isn't my favorite, but still better than most. When not in the mood for the side salad (.49), I take the upsell for the feta fries (.79), it's totally worthwhile. The fries are crisp and can stand up to the melty feta crumbles. The pita is light and airy, and doesn't taste of pure flour like too many do. Ripe tomato and gyro meat is nestled inside. I like that the sliced edges are little crisp but the interior is still juicy. Red onion packs a punch, some even say it's straight from Satan's garden, but here it's sliced very thin so you don't feel like you're breathing fire. Though, gum after the meal is probably still a good idea.

Sure, it's a little pricier than a few joints in town, but they do it right. I must return with a larger group so I can sample more of the menu.
