Dive In

You've heard of the Drive In, but how about the Dive In? Each Monday, the Cosmopolitan hosts a viewing party at the Boulevard Pool that features a movie on their strip sign. We're always up for something different so we decided to check it out this past Monday.

The movie was Ferris Bueller's Day Off. We got their early enough to secure a couple loungers in the pool that offered a great view of the screen. It was pretty neat! It was relaxing being completely surrounded by water, the glow of the strip was all around, you could see the hotel towers hovering above, you could hear bellagio fountains cracking, all while watching the film on Cosmo's jumbo strip sign. I'd definitely return to catch another flick.

After the movie, we stopped at the hidden pizza joint for a couple slices. Frank had white pizza and I had sausage with pepperoncini. We hadn't tried it, again, since actually visiting NYC. The verdict? They do have authentic slices. Better than many we tried. Only Bleeker St, Spumoni Gardens and Patzeria Perfect were better.

How about Grimaldi's on Eastern - tried that one?? Hurricane Mikey used to "swear" by that pizza - they apparently have Peroni on tap also....

I have, a few times, they also have one on the west side of town now. They do have Peroni on tap.

I love the fresh mozzarella they use, but I don't love their crust. It's nice and crisp on the outer edges, but it's too wet and filmsy in the center. I like a nice even crispy chewy crust. I'm also not a fan of their sausage. While it's not my preference, it is good and I understand its popularity. It's head and shoulders better than Metro. However, I do prefer Cosmo's crust.

Look for the hallway wrapped in vintage records between Jaleo and Blue Ribbon. It's unmarked and there is no signage.

Pizza by the slice is pre-cooked and the selection is limited to what is available. I like the white pizza, and slices with peppers: green or pepperoncini make no difference to me. It was only the sausage, meatball, and pepperoni I didn't care for... my favorite was probably green pepper and onion. Slices start at $3; they're tossed in the pizza oven until crisp and bubbly hot.

They're open from 11am and as late as 4am. Free soda refills and they have Pabst Blue Ribbon and Dogfish IPA drafts for $3.50.

That's a neat idea...and would be a fun, different experience in Las Vegas.

This Monday is Breakfast Club. I'll miss it, but it would've been a good one to catch. And yeah, it really is a unique experience.
